Dental Hygiene Therapy & Maintenance

The reason most people require extensive dental treatment is often due to a degree of long-term neglect.

This can be due to various factors, such as inadequate cleaning, frequent or excessive sugar consumption, delayed orthodontic treatment, failure to replace lost teeth, or simply a lack of awareness about the consequences of dental disease.

Old habits die hard – we know. Neglecting your oral hygiene and ignoring warning signs can lead to more significant problems down the road. It’s essential to break this cycle and prevent recurring issues.

It is our mission to help our patients develop new habits and maintain them. Without addressing the underlying issues, we will be limited to the treatment we can provide, and any treatment you do receive may be compromised, and longevity may be jeopardised. To achieve this, we work with you to instil good dental habits and provide necessary guidance to maintain them.

Every treatment at Kendal Dental Care will be associated with a dental hygiene program to encourage patients to get into and then keep good habits. It is imperative that the advice of our team is actioned so that the health of your teeth and any dental treatment is supported. We can’t stress enough how crucial your participation in your maintenance program is.

The frequency of recall appointments will vary from person to person depending on a variety of factors such as an individual’s risk level of gum disease. Some patients may require only annual visits, while others may need monthly appointments if maintenance of oral hygiene is particularly difficult.

There is a direct correlation between patients who neglect their hygiene and the number of problems they develop in the years following treatment.

Neglected hygiene can lead to the deterioration of dental work and may demand further, more extensive procedures. To uphold the quality of our work, we reserve the right to withdraw guarantees from work if oral hygiene maintenance standards are inadequate, or recommended hygienist appointments are not adhered to.

It’s important to remember that the better you maintain your oral health, the longer your teeth or dental implants supporting dental work will last. Additionally, good oral health contributes to your overall well-being.

At Kendal Dental Care, we are committed to helping you achieve and maintain excellent oral health. Dental hygiene therapy and maintenance are not just afterthoughts but integral components of your treatment plan and your overall health. By addressing the root causes of dental issues and nurturing new habits, we can work together to ensure your long-term health.
